Christ umc events

-- encounter christ --

Christ UMC has many events! Just a few examples include monthly small group gatherings, quarterly blood drives, and our large annual events like Vacation Bible Camp and the Santa Breakfast. If you are hoping to register for an event, get more information about something, or just get a snapshot of what we're doing in the next few weeks, you are in the right place!

If you are looking to volunteer or assist with an event, please visit the Volunteer Sign Ups page.

If there is an event you are looking for that seems to be missing, registration may not be open yet. You can always call 215-855-1643 or email the church office to get more information.

  • Throughout the school year, we have highlighted our preschool artists on Sunday mornings and displayed their artwork in the lobby. Throughout the summer, we want to highlight our children and youth.

How will this work? Sign up on the SignUpGenius for a day that you will be in worship. Drop off the artwork you want to display by the Wednesday before. This will give us time to photograph it and include it in our Friday email. Then, come to church early to be announced during worship and stay after the service to talk about your artwork!

We will have just one person/family per service each Sunday. So siblings can display together or they can be on different days, if you prefer. You can just list all the kids that will be included in the comment line when you sign up.

What can be displayed? We invite you to choose 3-6 items. If they are items that we can't hang up, and would need a table, please let me know ahead of time. Please note that the art should be child appropriate and not scary. No weapons allowed. (Remember that kindergarteners often find their first fire drill scary, so use that knowledge to assess your artwork.)

If you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Tawny or Nick Hill.

  • Our current 13 week GriefShare cycle continues. Each week is self-contained, so joining us any time within the 13 weeks is fine. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, we invite you to experience the support of a group of caring people who can relate to your situation. GriefShare is open to our community–if you have a friend who is grieving, please invite them to join us. Join us on Wednesdays at 1:30 PM. The one-time registration fee is $20; it covers all sessions. Scholarships are available. Register here or call the church office at 215-855-1643.

  • All adults age 50+ are invited to the next Friendly Seniors meeting, May 21, at 11:30 AM. Create your own sandwich or salad from the meat, cheese and salads provided. Then enjoy the “Art Goes to Church” presentation at 1:00 PM, led by experienced presenters Lois Stevenson and Jeanie Sinz.

“Art Goes to Church,” like the “Art Goes to School” program in the local elementary schools, is a highly interactive program that appeals both to the art-lover and to the artistically-challenged. Through story-telling and group interaction, all will be invited to open their eyes and use their imaginations to discover new ways of exploring these paintings.

The “Art Goes to Church” presentation received rave reviews when presented to the Susanna Wesley Circle and Friendly Seniors several years ago. The prints are new this year and the experience will be, too! Don’t miss this opportunity to experience this wonderful program for yourself! And why not invite a friend?

Mark your calendar now for May 21 and sign up at the SignUpGenius or in the narthex! Please note if you plan to bring a dessert. See you there!

  • All are welcome. We will be playing at Mainland Golf Course. We will play golf followed by fellowship, including prizes. We will be playing a Scramble format, always enjoyable. Our church preschool will be the charity again this year. The first tee time will be 8:30 AM. If you have a prize to donate, a suggestion, or a question, please contact Don Albacker at (215) 692-2958. There is a sign up sheet in the narthex or email/call Don Albacker.

  • Susanna Wesley Circle will be touring John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove (http://www.johnjames.aubudon.org) on May 31, 2025. The property address is 1201 Pawlings Road Audubon, PA. We will meet at 10 AM at the center and have a guided tour of the museum, gallery, and historic house. There will be an $11.00 per person fee to participate in the tours. It will take approximately two and half hours to tour all the buildings.

There will be a golf cart available, if you feel you cannot walk to all the locations. Golf cart capacity is 5 people and one of the tour guides will drive you.

If you would prefer to meet at the church and carpool, please note that in your RSVP. The deadline to sign up is May 17th; you can sign up using the SignUpGenius or on the paper in the narthex. Please mark your calendars and join us!

  • This month our Deborah Circle will be meeting on Monday, June 9 at the church, Room 106. We are going to be helping Pastor Tawny prepare some of the items she needs for Vacation Bible Camp in July. We would appreciate as much help as you are able to give us.

We look forward to a fun afternoon – hope you can join us. A signup sheet is located on the kiosk in the Narthex lobby or you can sign up on the Signup GeniusPlease bring a sandwich or a salad and a beverage. Dessert will be provided.

We hope you are happy and healthy and staying safe and praying for our church, community and country as we go forward. We will not be meeting in July or August. Any questions, please call Jean or Gail. Check the directory or call the church office if you need their contact info. See you in September!

  • On Thursday, June 12, 6:30 PM, the Susanna Wesley Circle annual potluck picnic will be held at the Plains Mennonite pavilion, located at the corner of Orville Road and Main Street in Hatfield. Sign up on the SignUpGenius to indicate whether you are bringing an entree, a salad, or a dessert. All paper products and eating utensils will be provided. Please bring your own beverage, and a serving spoon for your dish, if needed. We will discuss suggestions for next year’s meetings.

If you won’t know until the last minute if you can attend, that’s fine - please come whether or not you have signed up! Contact Nadene Stauffer or Suzanne Williams if you have questions. Check the directory or call the church office for their contact info.
